Collecting Tips: Complete Sets
Older ones can be expensive, but most in the last 15-20 years are not. If you buy the complete sets, at least you'll be sure of having ALL the cards issued in a particular year. Some collectors focus on specific years the year they or their children were born; a year that they were particularly attracted to baseball. Often they will work backward or forward - from that particular year. You can also limit your purchases by collecting only sets made by Topps(from 1951) Fleer (from 1981 except for obscure 1960s sets), Donruss (from 1981); Upper Deck (from 1989) or even Bowman (1948-1955). Most set prices in recent years have become much more affordable.
